Health Equity Program Coordinator
Liz Kovarsky, LCSW, is an abolitionist social worker with a strong foundation in community organizing and equity-based education. Before joining Cross Cultural Community Services (CCCS), Liz designed and facilitated trainings on gender diversity, organized Bath, Maine's first Pride event, and led initiatives that centered LGBTQ+ inclusion and social justice. With a clinical background rooted in trauma-informed care, Liz worked extensively with individuals and families navigating structural barriers, using her skills to advocate for those most often left out of traditional service systems.
As Health Equity Program Coordinator at CCCS, Liz Kovarsky leads and facilitates health equity trainings, creating challenging and supportive learning environments. She co-led community-centered events like the Black History Month Community Wellness Fair, addressing racism as a public health issue and promoting culturally grounded healing. Liz developed CCCS’s one-hour webinar series on White Allyship, Cultural Awareness, and Assimilation vs. Acculturation, ensuring content reflects lived experience and best practices. She coordinates partnerships with organizations like MaineHealth and Gateway Community Services, prioritizing equity in policy and practice. Liz also works on CCCS’s evaluation tools, adapting anti-bias assessments and organizational surveys to guide clients in setting measurable equity goals. Her leadership has expanded CCCS’s impact, especially among LGBTQ+, immigrant, and rural communities, advocating for accessible, inclusive, and trauma-informed care.
