Join Us in Addressing Racism as a Public Health Issue
Cross Cultural Community Services (CCCS) is excited to announce it’s 5th Black History Month Community Wellness Fair, an event designed to spotlight the profound impact of racism on public health. Taking place February 26-27, 2025, this year’s theme, "Racism: A Public Health Issue," focuses on the systemic barriers that disproportionately affect BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities while exploring actionable solutions for a healthier, more equitable future.
A Two-Day Experience to Inspire Change
This year’s Wellness Fair promises a dynamic and engaging experience over two days. Hosted in collaboration with the Equality Community Center (ECC) and other community partners, this event will feature:
Panels and discussions with leading healthcare experts and community advocates.
Storytelling sessions that bring personal experiences with healthcare disparities to light.
Interactive activities to promote wellness and encourage collaboration.
Participants will have the unique opportunity to connect with advocates, healthcare professionals, and local organizations dedicated to health equity. The event will also feature special sessions to highlight the intersectionality of healthcare access, addressing how race, gender identity, sexuality, and other factors intersect to create challenges and opportunities.
Why It Matters
Racism as a public health issue extends far beyond individual experiences; it’s embedded in systemic inequities that affect entire communities. By bringing together voices from diverse backgrounds, this event seeks to:
Raise awareness about the barriers faced by marginalized communities.
Share real-life experiences and data to inform actionable solutions.
Inspire collaborative approaches to address disparities in healthcare access and outcomes.
Making Connections That Matter
The Wellness Fair will foster an environment where learning, sharing, and building connections take center stage. Participants will leave equipped with resources, insights, and relationships that empower them to contribute to a more inclusive and equitable healthcare landscape.
