World Recovery Cafe at Portland Recovery Community Center

July World Recovery Cafe

The mission of the World Recovery Cafe Project is to connect with underrepresented groups in recovery and honor the role food has in identity and recovery. Participants engage in meaningful dialog to shape the future of our community while sharing a meal. As a recovery community organization, the mission of Portland Recovery Community Center is to provide support, education, resources, and advocacy for people recovering from and affected by addiction.

The World Recovery Cafe series at Portland Recovery Community Center is a unique opportunity that celebrates the role of food in identity, recovery, and belonging.  Each month’s World Cafe shines a spotlight on a different underrepresented group in recovery. The July series is dedicated to Black, Brown, African American, and People of Color in or seeking recovery.

The Sunday World Cafe events require an RSVP and are designed for active participation. Facilitators lead discussions, encouraging the generation of new ideas, culminating in a shared lunch. The Friday Recovery Cafés, on the other hand, feature speakers sharing their recovery stories over a light breakfast.

If you identify as a Black, Brown, African American and/or Person of Color in or seeking recovery, please join us on Sunday, July 7th, from 12 to 3 p.m. RSVP at https://forms.office.com/r/Fz9uWYQzwb

Portland Recovery Community Center is located at 102 Bishop Street, Portland, ME 04103 and is open seven days a week.
