Abeir Ibrahim (she/her)
Co-Founder & chief financial officer
Abeir Ibrahim, originally from Sudan, immigrated to the United States over 25 years ago. Prior to co-founding Cross Cultural Community Services (CCCS), she built a distinguished career with the City of Portland's Social Services Division. There, she played a pivotal role in supporting vulnerable populations, first as the supervisor of the General Assistance (GA) Program and earlier in the Refugee Services Program, where she led the Survivors of Torture program. In these roles, Ms. Ibrahim provided critical case management to asylum seekers and refugees who had experienced trauma and persecution. She also acted as a cultural broker for the Maine Department of Health and Human Services, specifically supporting the Child Protective and Family Crisis Services, helping bridge gaps in understanding and service delivery for immigrant families.
As Co-Founder and Chief Financial Officer of CCCS, Abeir Ibrahim brings a grounded, culturally responsive lens to both organizational strategy and direct service. She is integral to CCCS’s health equity and anti-racism programming, ensuring financial accountability while fostering relationships with community partners and funders. Abeir is a trusted leader on issues of racial and ethnic disparities in service systems and currently serves on the Sudanese Community Association board, the Department of Corrections Juvenile Justice Advisory Group (JJAG), and the Racial and Ethnic Disparities (R/ED) Committee. Her work continues to reflect her deep commitment to equity, inclusion, and the wellbeing of Maine’s BIPOC and immigrant communities.
