Cross Cultural Community Services (CCCS) is excited to announce its 5th Black History Month Community Wellness Fair. This event aims to highlight the significant impact of racism on public health. It will take place on February 26-27, 2025. This year's theme, "Racism: A Public Health Issue," focuses on the systemic barriers that disproportionately affect BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities. Additionally, it will explore actionable solutions for a healthier and more equitable future.

A Two-Day Experience to Inspire Change

This year’s Wellness Fair promises a dynamic and engaging experience over two days. It is hosted in collaboration with the Equality Community Center (ECC) and other community partners. The event will feature:

  • Panels and discussions with leading healthcare experts and community advocates.

  • Storytelling sessions illustrating personal experiences with healthcare disparities.

  • Interactive activities that promote wellness and encourage collaboration.

Participants will have a unique opportunity to connect with advocates, healthcare professionals, and local organizations dedicated to health equity. The event will highlight special sessions on the intersectionality of healthcare access. It will address how race, gender identity, sexuality, and other factors create challenges and opportunities.

The Impact of Racism on Health

Racism as a public health issue extends far beyond individual experiences. It is embedded in systemic inequities affecting entire communities. This Wellness Fair seeks to:

  • Raise awareness about the barriers faced by marginalized communities.

  • Share real-life experiences and data to inform actionable solutions.

  • Inspire collaborative approaches to address disparities in healthcare access and outcomes.
