Updated: Oct 16

Join Us for an Evening of Music and Community

Portland, ME — September 2025 — Cross Cultural Community Services (CCCS) is excited to announce its annual Stand Together for Change Fundraiser. This event will take place on Wednesday, October 16, 2025, from 4–7 p.m. at Oxbow Blending & Bottling on Washington Avenue in Portland.

The evening promises to be a vibrant celebration featuring live music from two celebrated Maine artists. Kenya Hall, known for her powerhouse blend of funk and soul, will grace the stage alongside Suzie Assam, a rising singer-songwriter whose work deeply explores themes of identity, belonging, and culture. Guests can also indulge in local food and craft beer from Oxbow while connecting with fellow community members who are dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).

Why This Fundraiser Matters

The Stand Together for Change Fundraiser is more than just an event; it is a vital opportunity to support CCCS’s mission. As we continue our work promoting social inclusion and improving equitable outcomes, we are also addressing the social determinants of health for culturally and ethnically diverse communities across Maine.

Founded in 2017 by three women of color, CCCS has established itself as a trusted voice in the fight for equity and systemic change. Our commitment to these values is reflected in every aspect of our work.

Supporting Our Community Initiatives

The proceeds from this fundraiser will directly support CCCS’s equity trainings, health advocacy, and community programming. By attending, you are not just enjoying a night of music and food; you are actively participating in the movement towards a more equitable society.

Building Relationships Through Music and Food

Events like the Stand Together for Change Fundraiser create a space for dialogue and connection. Music has the power to bring people together, and we are thrilled to feature artists who resonate with our mission.

Kenya Hall and Suzie Assam are not just performers; they are voices for change. Their music inspires us to reflect on our own experiences and the collective journey towards equity.

Engaging with Our Community

We invite you to engage with us during this event. Whether through conversation, sharing your story, or simply enjoying the atmosphere, your presence contributes to a larger movement.

At CCCS, we emphasize the importance of community-centered approaches. We believe that everyone has a role to play in advancing equity.
