A New Collaborative Initiative

Cross Cultural Community Services (CCCS) is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with the Equality Community Center. This collaboration introduces a vibrant series of mental health and wellness groups explicitly tailored for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ individuals in Greater Portland. These free, in-person gatherings focus on cultural affirmation, creative expression, and collective care and support. Our goal is straightforward yet impactful: we aim to create healing-centered environments where people can recharge, reconnect, and rediscover joy.

Upcoming Event: Theater Workshop for Wellness

Date: Tuesday, May 14

Time: 3:30–4:30 PM

Location: Equality Community Center, 15 Casco Street, Portland

Why This Series Matters

Traditional wellness models often overlook the voices and experiences of Black, Indigenous People of Color, and LGBTQ+ individuals. CCCS recognizes that wellness should not only be inclusive but also rooted in community, trauma-informed practices, and cultural responsiveness. This series is designed to uplift and reflect the lived experiences of those we serve. We strive to provide accessible and joyful opportunities for growth, connection, and well-being.

Workshop Overview

This one-hour, in-person workshop provides more than just a creative outlet. It is a space where participants can breathe, laugh, move, and heal together in a celebratory and safe environment. Designed explicitly for Queer and BIPOC individuals, the workshop welcomes everyone—no prior theater experience is necessary. Whether you’re new to the arts or a seasoned performer, you belong here.

Creative Exploration and Healing

Participants will engage in gentle theater-based exercises, improvisation, storytelling, and movement practices. These activities enhance self-awareness and foster connections among individuals, unlocking the power of imagination and self-expression. Our approach to wellness is not about reaching a fixed goal; instead, it is a communal and ongoing journey that evolves over time.

Community-Centered Healing

Facilitated by artists and healers who understand the diverse needs of the community, this session offers an opportunity to be your complete and authentic self. Here, you will be met with care, respect, and a sense of belonging.

This workshop offers an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of community and the importance of wellness. Remember, you are not alone on this journey. Healing is best pursued together, and we invite you to join us for this transformative experience.

The Importance of Connection

In our modern world, connections often feel fleeting or overshadowed by daily stresses. This workshop serves as a reminder that building relationships and community is essential for our well-being. The bonds formed during these gatherings can help foster resilience and provide emotional support that lasts well beyond the session.

Interactive Elements

Expect interactive elements woven throughout the workshop, allowing for organic participation. Each moment is designed to nurture a sense of safety, acceptance, and love. Participants are encouraged to share their stories, engage in discussions, and support one another in self-discovery.

Through these exercises, we open up the floor for dialogue about wellness and self-care in ways that resonate with our unique identities. It’s an opportunity to reflect and share in a safe space.
